FAQs
Performance measurement principles
Apple Search Ads does not use definitional tracking links, but measures performance in a server-to-server manner through the Apple Ads Attribution API based on token values. In other words, DFINERY calculates and reports the contribution of Apple Search Ads according to the open attribution modeling set by the customer based on the response information provided by the Apple Search Ads API.For this reason, Apple Search Ads does not provide 'click' metrics.
numerical difference
The following factors may cause differences in ‘Install’ numbers between the DFINERY report and the Apple Search Ads report.
1) Whether to execute other campaigns (Self Attribution VS Multi-channel Attribution)
Apple Search Ads | Dfinery |
We calculate ad performance based solely on interactions with our ads. |
DFINERY goes beyond the interactivity of Apple Search Ads.
At the same time, performance is calculated using a last-click model, taking into account ad engagement (clicks, impressions, etc.) interactions that occurred through the used tracking link. |
Note.
If you are executing another campaign through the DFINERY tracking link other than Apple Search Ads,
Although our performance is counted in the Apple Search Ads report, it may be counted as the performance of other media partners in DFINERY. |
2) Differences in contribution recognition period (lookback window)
Apple Search Ads | Dfinery |
App installations that occur within 30 days after engaging with an advertisement are counted as performance.
Also, the Lookback Window cannot be adjusted. |
You can adjust the Lookback Window from 1 hour to 30 days. |
Note
Even if you change the Apple Search Ads Lookback Window to 30 days or less in DFINERY, it will not affect the Apple Search Ads reports.
|
3) Differences in Install aggregation standards
Apple Search Ads | Dfinery |
The time when an app is installed on a device is counted as the number of 'Installs'. | After the app is installed on the device, the app must run completely to be counted as the number of 'Installs'. |
Note. If the ad participant installs the app and launches it immediately, the difference in numbers between Apple Search Ads and Definery is small. |
4) Differences in Re-Install aggregation criteria
Apple Search Ads | Dfinery |
If a user who has already installed the app downloads it again,
We count this in the 'Conversions' column, while also counting it in the 'Re-downloads' column. |
If a device that has already installed the app more than once deletes and reinstalls it, DFINERY
|
Note. When comparing the Conversions column in Apple Search Ads and the 'New Install' column in DFINERY, the numbers may not match. |
5) Whether past campaigns have been implemented
Apple Search Ads | Dfinery |
If a user who has already installed the app through Apple Search Ads at least once installs the app through a new campaign, it is counted as a 'conversion' for the new campaign on Apple Search Ads dashboard, but Apple Search Ads Attribution API In some cases, it may respond with app installation from a previous campaign. |
When DFINERY checks the response from the Attribution API,
|
Note.
This difference in Search Ads response is being seen in some app installs.
This difference can result in the difference between 'Conversion' and 'Re-Download' and 'Re-Install'. |
